Introducing Dubbs Lane

Dubbs Lane was born C. Lanehart in one of the poverty stricken neighborhoods on the North Side of Baton Rouge, Louisiana on September 16th, 1983. The efforts of his mother and father made it possible for him to rise above the crime on the streets and focus on music. By the time he was nine years old he listened to Rob Bass' "It Takes Two", which he memorized verbatim. Initially, rap was a form of entertainment for Dubbs, but when he started writing his own lyrics at the age of ten, rap became his secret passion.

Possessing a "Do it yourself attitude", Dubbs recorded, mixed, and produced his latest project "Welcome to Myspace Vol. 1". Keeping in mind that at the time of completion he was still an unknown underground artist, he decided to make it a free download available through his myspace music page. Through heavy promotion and dedication, Welcome to Myspace Vol. 1 has been downloaded well over 2,500 times from September 2007-March 2008. Welcome to Myspace Vol. 1 served as a platform for Dubbs Lane to increase his visibility in order to build the necessary buzz he needed to have his name mentioned as of one the "Fresh Faces" of the industry.

With the strong will instilled in Dubbs Lane from his parents, he is no stranger to "paying dues". Without any representation to book shows for him, he personally sought out promoters with his demo and performed on spot auditions, in hopes of being put on the performance bills of future shows. As a result of his tenacity he can be seen constantly performing at various open mic nights and underground shows around the DMV (Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area. Through his dedication, he has become a frequent performer at The Turntable Hip Hop Club, The Black Hole Club, The Sonar, and The Penguins just to name a few. His most notable performances to date were Spotlight Live in Time Square New York for the 50 Mics Tournament Challenge. Most recently he became an East Coast finalist on The Source Magazine Unsigned Hype Tour.

Dubbs Lane has evolved from humble beginnings, making song parodies and mix-tapes, to starting a record label with the help of a childhood friend. As a partner of Fresh Air Ent., C. "Dubbs Lane" Lanehart thrives on overseeing the completion of albums that can be listened to from start to finish without ever desiring to skip a song. With the state of instability that the Hip Hop industry is in, Dubbs Lane is eagerly waiting to tackle the task at hand. Dubbs Lane has been profoundly influenced by Russell Simmons, Jay-Z, Master P, Ice Cube, and Cash Money. He often uses their success and business savvy as a blueprint for starting his own corporation from the ground up and turning his brand into a household name someday. He is a driven perfectionist and it shows in his various music endeavors.

Now this is Dubbs Lane and I encourage anyone who doesn't know who this man is to go and read about him through the above bio and hit his links.

Dubbs hit me on MySpace well over a year ago!  I listened to his music and I was really liking what I was hearing!!  I had seen him on stage a couple times before I introduced myself!  And when I did it's been love ever since!!

This man gives one hell of a show.  He is more than an emcee, he is an entertainer!!  Don't give him a cordless mic because he will get off stage and go through the crowd.  He tries to get the crowd to interact with him and he succeeds to the fullest!!

I have seen him perform at so many different venues and every time he gains respect from his peers and new fans at every show!  I am so happy to have my own Dubbs Lane cd!!  I think you should go get yours.  I don't think you will be disappoint at all!!  The link is right up there!!  It's free!!

I love Dubbs Lane!!

Freight Train Records! All Aboard!! Doors Closing!!!

Freight Train Records was created out of a void in Hip Hop. Founder Diablo Slim was living in NYC in an attempt to find a sound that had eluded him for many years. “ I had been from ATL to NY in search of a sound that best represented me and the sound I was trying to bring to the game” says Diablo Slim. After a unsuccessful stint in NYC, in the fall of 2006 he decided that it would be best if he moved back to his hometown of Washington, DC and start working on his own production. With a make-shift recording booth, some studio equipment and a couple of Diablo’s friends FTR was born. FTR released their first Underground CD entitled “Hammer and Nails” Vol.1 in the summer of 2007. The CD had a unique blend of Hip Hop, Jazz and Funk; add in the raw, edgy lyrics and H&N Vol.1 was instant underground success. The initial members of FTR included Ace Vigor, Vega$, O-Face and Diablo Slim.” I never set out to be a CEO of a record company, I was just a rapper looking for production but circumstances led to this opportunity and I accepted the role” explains Diablo on the change from rapper to CEO. Theses four individuals stormed onto the DC open mic scene like...well a Freight Train, quickly gaining notoriety amongst their peers and often showing up at these events in access of over twenty people. Their raw and unique style was different from the masses and FTR was a fixture at local hip hop events, even developing a small fan base. Sadly however FTR was struck with tragedy when member Ace Vigor died suddenly in the fall of 2007. This sent the young label into a state of inaction for several months. Life after Ace Vigor’s passing was difficult to overcome but it marked a new beginning for FTR.
In the months following Ace Vigor’s death FTR slowly started to recover and even grow. “When Ace passed I was looking for a top notch rapper to come in, that’s when my A&R brought Phenox to my attention” says Diablo. With the acquisitions of Bam, a veteran in music production and an accomplished musician and singer as well as newcomer Phenox Arson, a rapper with an vicious verbal arsenal and commanding presence FTR got back to work in the studio and on the stage. With new artist City Swagga, Footz and Hollywood, FTR now bolsters a full roster of recording artist, producers, A&R, engineers, graphic designers, marketing and promo team FTR has been nominated and won for various underground awards shows and competitions. Performing from NY to Dallas and everywhere in between, even receiving radio play in the United Kingdom. In the fall of 2009 FTR released “Hammer and Nails Vol.2” a compilation of FTR artist that paid homage to early FTR while showcasing FTR’s future. With such a diverse sound and identity FTR is sure to be a force in the local, regional, national and international music scene. And Hip Hop is just the beginning Diablo Slim has plans to incorporate other genres of music under the Freight Train Records most notably Pop and Alternative Rock.

That is the bio from Freight Train Records!!  I seen these guys at a show at the Black Hole Club in Dundalk!   I was pleasantly surprised at how they were on stage!  As time went on I got the privilege to see them on a couple more occasions.  They each have their own personalities and no one on the label is the same.  I really can't even compare them to any industry artist which to me is so nice!  LOL  Especially in this time of everyone trying to sound and flow like Lil Wayne or Gucci Mane!

You can check them out on MySpace, Facebook and YouTube!  Just Google the name and tons of stuff will come up!  LOL

OnE aka GeneralBeatz Mental Head Bangaz

Bio
"OnE aka Deji was born in the continent of Africa .Nigeria to be exact. Raised as the last out of seven kids. He was born into a family of musicians(choir members)and addopted the tradition when he was 10. OnE has always been a multi tallented individual. Learned how to play drums at the age of 6 and was composing music at the age of12. OnE is special in so many ways its like music flows through his veins, like he breathes it in like air. Music has always been his way of explaining life and due to some situations in Nigeria,he migrated to the U.S. at the age of 16. He found a group called WolfPack in 2000 and started an independent label "mentalheadbangarz". The pack broke things up in 2003 and parted ways but OnE,now also known as GeneralBeatz aka "Mr. I got em" is still doing what he does best and that's producing and performing.....with slogans such as "get gully or get bodied"...."keep bangin'.  Please bare witness to the revolution of hiphop as you watch the story unfold.  You can always see him live all over Baltimore.  This is hip hop like never before with lyical content, consistency, variability and fluency.  One is a leader,a producer,a mentor, a videographer and a pioneer. Thanx for having OnE as a friend.  "MenTALMUZIK" one of his highly anticipated street album is coming soon!!!....keep bangin' and thanx for listenin'....2010 AND BEYONDMHB"

Now I can't tell you the first time that I ever seen One perform.  But I can tell you that he must have made a profound impact on me for me to become a true fan.  I have seen One perform more than enough times to know that this man is an entertainer.  I remember a show at The Black Hole and I had never seen a performer grab the mic stand and actually use it unless it was Reina Williams and she is playing guitar.  I stood there and was like oh ok he is more than just a rapper, he is an entertainer.  The music that I have heard from One ranges in topic.  It's real and comes from his soul!

He also does his own videos.  To me he isn't just trying to bank on the music to get him where he wants to go in this life.  As his bio states, he is a leader, producer, a mentor, a videographer and a pioneer.  And if you haven't had the chance or opportunity to see this man perform, you are doing yourself an injustice.  Check out the music as well as the videos in the links posted below.  You be your own judge.
